The Coaching Process: 4 Simple Steps

Dedicated coaching develops leadership skills at an accelerated rate–it provides individualized, real-time support to overcome challenging situations, explore new opportunities, and deepen core competencies for greater success.

Step 1: Connecting and Contracting

The Coach meets with the Client or Client’s sponsor to contract on coaching expectation and process.

  • 30-minute consultation session
Step 2: Assessing and Identifying Strengths

The Coach carries out an assessment through questionnaires and comprehensive tools to guide action planning. Information is collected about the leader’s current leadership role, career successes and challenges, professional development pursuits, and the values that drive their personal and professional life.

  • Questionnaires completed in advance of sessions (include executive and associate input, if suitable)
  • Assessments as appropriate, such as EQi-2.0, EQi-360 and DISC (additional fees may apply).
Step 3: Creating Strategies and Actionable Commitment

The Coach and Client formulate a maximum of three key developmental goals and corresponding action plans.

  • Coach and Client review assessment feedback and identify strengths
  • Coaching goals and action plans are refined
  • Executive sponsor (if suitable) to review development and action plan
Step 4: Coaching, Accountability and Ongoing Support

The Coach and Client meet weekly via Zoom technology to review what the Client has accomplished since the last meeting and what steps are next in their action plan. In addition to the coaching sessions, additional resources will be provided, as appropriate.

  • 45-minute coaching sessions each week
  • Coaching includes different techniques and tools such as, strategy setting, goal driven conversations, role playing, pre-presentation coaching, meeting agenda review, just-in-time conversations, etc.
  • Brief email and phone check in support, where necessary
